Matt Phillips grew up in the Coachella Valley and High Mojave Desert, where dirt, cacti and harsh sunlight define the landscape. Matt considers himself a ‘desert rat’ at heart and many of his narratives focus upon the American Southwest.

After working for a decade as a bartender and waiter, Matt returned to education to obtain a BA in Mass Communication from North Carolina Central University. He edited the award-winning Campus Echo student newspaper whilst there. His fiction has appeared in numerous literary magazines and he has made or written films which have screened in several film festivals.

Bourbon, beer, badass dialogue and stories with guns are what Matt lives for.
